Gnocchi alla Sorrentina
3.0
Created by SofiaaFoodie
Gnocchi alla Sorrentina is a comforting Italian bake of pillowy potato gnocchi tossed in a fragrant tomato-basil sauce and finished under bubbling, golden mozzarella. Simple aromatics and fresh basil give the sauce bright flavor, while a quick oven blast melts the cheese into a luscious, slightly caramelized topping. It’s an easy, homey dish perfect for weeknights or a cozy dinner with friends.

Method
Make the sauce: Heat 2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add Onion (or 2 shallots, finely chopped) and Garlic (minced), sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
Simmer: Lower heat, stir in Tomato Puree and chopped Basil (fresh, roughly chopped). Season with Salt (to taste) and Pepper (to taste). Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
Cook gnocchi: Boil Gnocchi for about 2 minutes (or follow package instructions). Drain and stir into the sauce.
Bake: Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Transfer gnocchi and sauce to an oven-safe dish, top with Fresh Mozzarella (sliced or torn). Bake for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
Serve: Garnish with extra basil and enjoy!
